Scotland, James VI Two Pence or Turner, issue of 1623

James VI of Scotland (1567-1625), copper Twopence or Turner, type II, Issue of 1623, thistle plant with three thistle heads, beaded circles and legend surrounding, .IACOBVS. D. G. MAG. BRIT., rev. crowned lion rampant left, two pellets behind for value of Twopence, beaded circles and legend surrounding, .FRAN. &. HIB. REX, weight 2.10g (Burns 4, fig.995; S.5524). Well struck a full coin for this crude issue, very fine and hard to find this well preserved.

The abbreviated Latin legends translate as on the obverse "James, by the Grace of God, King of Great Britain" and on the reverse "France and Ireland."
