James VI of Scotland (1567-1625), copper Twopence or Hardhead, type II, Issue of November 1588, crowned IR, beaded circles and legend surrounding, initial mark quatrefoil, *.IACOB. 6. D. G. R. SCO., rev. crowned lion rampant left, two pellets behind tail, beaded circles and legend surrounding, *.VINCIT . VERITAS., weight 1.55g (Burns 3, fig.967; S.5524). Ragged circumference with a dark tone, central devices all clear both sides, about very fine for issue, rare.

The abbreviated Latin legends translate as on the obverse "James the Sixth, by the Grace of God, King of Scotland" and on the reverse "Truth has conquered."
