Scotland, James VI (1567-1625), billon Twopenny Plack, undated (c.1588) crowned Scottish arms, legend and beaded border surrounding, IACOBVS. 6. D. G. R. SCO., rev. crowned thistle head, legend and beaded border surrounding broken by crown, OPPID. EDINB., weight 0.69g (Burns 3, fig 963/4; S.5516). Light tone and a little water worn, about very fine for this very rare issue.
The abbreviated Latin legends translate as on the obverse "James the Sixth, by the Grace of God, King of Scotland" and on the reverse "The fortification of Edinburgh."
