James VI of Scotland (1567-1625), billon Plack or Eightpenny Groat (1583-90), crowned Scottish arms, legend surrounding with outer beaded border surrounding both sides, IACOBVS 6. D G R. SCOTOR, rev. crowned thistle, OPPIDVM. EDINBURGI, weight 1.93g (Burns 3, fig.960; S.5511). Toned, good very fine for issue.

The abbreviated Latin legends translate as on the obverse "James the Sixth, by the Grace of God, King of Scotland" and on the reverse "Town of Edinburgh."
