SCOTORVM, rev. crowned thistle plant, legend and beaded border surrounding, REGEM. IOVA. PROTEGIT. 1601 , weight 3.26g (Burns 1, fig.944; S.5498). Toned very fine for issue.

The abbreviated Latin legends translate as on the obverse "James the Sixth, by the Grace of God, King of Scotland" and on the reverse "Jehovah protects the King."
