SCOTORVM, rev. crowned thistle plant, legend and beaded border surrounding, REGEM. IOVA. PROTEGIT. 1601 , weight 0.74g (Burns 1, fig.946; S.5500). Toned with some light short hairline scratches, otherwise very fine, rare.
The abbreviated Latin legends translate as on the obverse "James the Sixth, by the Grace of God, King of Scotland" and on the reverse "Jehovah protects the King."
