Scotland, James IV (1488-1513), gold Half-Unicorn of Nine Shillings, class I, variety with O struck over B in King's name, with double six pointed star stops both sides, full reverse legend with lombardic N, Unicorn facing left, shield of Scottish arms in front, ring with chain below, horn of unicorn breaks inner beaded circle, legend and outer beaded circle surrounding, initial mark fleur de lis on reverse only, **IACOBVS** DEI** GRACIA** REX** SCOTOR, rev. sun of twelve rays over cross fleury, beaded circles and legend surrounding, +EXVRGAT** DS** ET** DISIPEnT** InImICI, weight 1.73g (SCBI Scottish Museums 35:837; SCBI 72:13A Stewartby; Burns cf.James III -; S.5322). Toned with one light crease, some striations around rim, otherwise a nice full coin, good very fine and extremely rare.

The Latin legend translates as "James by the grace of God, King of the Scottish" continuing on the reverse as "Let God arise and let His enemies be scattered" a Psalm from the Bible.
