Scotland, James I (1406-37), silver Groat, first Fleur-de-lis issue, Linlithgow mint, mintmark cross pattée, small neat bust, tressure of eight arcs, lis with saltire either side on neck, lis in field to left, I to right field, I as sceptre handle, legend with fleur de lis stops both sides reads +IΛCOBVS. DEI. TRΛCIA. REX. SCO, rev. long cross, concentric circles, outer legend reads DNS. P TECOTO RmS. L IBATOR, inner legend reads VILL Λ.BE LInLIThC, weight 2.00g (Burns fig. 472, SCBI 35 [Ashmoleon], 657-59; SCBI 72 [Stewartby], 487; S.5199). Toned, some ghosting of reverse cross on obverse, B for D in De on reverse, bold fine or better, struck on good metal, very rare.
The Latin legends translates as on the obverse "James by the grace of God King of Scotland" and on the reverse inner legend as "town [villa] of Linlithgow."
