Scotland, Charles I (1625-49), silver Twenty Pence, third coinage (1637-42), type III, Falconer's first issue, crowned and draped bust left to bottom of coin, legend surrounding with weak stops with linear and beaded circles both sides, CAR. D: G. SCOT. ANG. FR. ET. HIB. R, rev. crowned thistle plant, F end of legend, IVSTITIA . THRONVM. FIRMAT. F, weight 0.80g (Burns 35, fig.1019; S.5588). Darker tone, some light adjustment marks on thistle and corresponding weakness on face of King, struck a little off-centre, a bold very fine.

The abbreviated Latin legends translate as on the obverse "Charles by the Grace of God, King of Scotland, England, France and Ireland" and on the reverse "Justice strengthens the throne."
