Scotland, Charles I Thirty Shillings, Briot intermediate issue mm thistle

Scotland, Charles I (1625-49), silver Thirty Shilling, Briot's intermediate issue type II, armoured King left on horseback with upright sword and flowing sash, ground below, inner and outer beaded circles with legend surrounding both sides, initial mark thistle both sides, CAROLVS' D:G. MAGN. BRITAN. FRAN. ET. HIB. REX., rev. crowned quartered shield of arms to top of coin, QVÆ. DEVS. CONIVNXIT. NEMO. SEPERET., weight 14.89g (Burns 20, figure 1015; Bull 7 (Scot); S.5554). Adjustment marks on obverse and some lighter ones on reverse, toned a bold very fine.

The Latin legends translate as on the obverse "Charles by the grace of God King of Great Britain, France and Ireland," and on the reverse as "What God hath joined together, let no man put asunder."
