Scotland, Charles I gold Unite

Scotland, Charles I (1625-49), gold Unit, third coinage (1637-42), type I, ornate armoured bust right with orb and sceptre right, legend with pellet stops and beaded circles surrounding, CAROLVS. D: G. MAG. BRITAN. FRAN. ET. HIB. REX., thistle and B after obverse legend, rev. crowned quartered shield of arms, crowned C and lozenge to left, crowned R and lozenge to right, legend with lozenge stops and beaded circles surrounding, HIS. PRÆSVM. VT. PROSIM., 9.90g (S.5531). Light red tone, good very fine to almost extremely fine.

The abbreviated Latin legends translate as on obverse "Charles by the grace of God, King of Great Britain, France and Ireland," and on the reverse "I am set over them, that I may be profitable to them." a legend exclusive to these gold coins that are struck in 22 carat "crown" gold.
