Scotland, Alexander III (1249-86), silver long cross Penny, second coinage (c.1280-86), type Mc, crowned head and sceptre left, within beaded inner circle, legend and outer beaded circle surrounding, +ALEXAND.ER DEI GRA, single punch used for crown, wedge tailed R, tiny upper pellet between D and E, rev. long cross pattée, pierced mullet of six points in each angle except one star of five points in upper left quarter, beaded circles and legend surrounding, REX SCO TOR VM+, weight 1.33g (Burns 36 fig.168; S.5055). Toned, some ghosting of reverse cross onto obverse, otherwise very fine.

The legend translates as "Alexander by the grace of God," on the obverse and "King of the Scottish" on the reverse.
