Scotland, Alexander III (1249-86), silver long cross Penny, second coinage (c.1280-86), type Mc, crowned head and sceptre left, single crown punch used, within beaded inner circle, legend and outer beaded circle surrounding, +ALEXANDER DEI GRA, hyphen above last R, final A is partially over the initial cross, letter Rs have curved bottom tails, rev. long cross pattee, pierced mullet of six points in each angle, beaded circles and legend surrounding, REX SCO TOR VM+, weight 1.13g (Burns 15; S.5055A). Large chip in legend, otherwise very fine.

The legend translates as "Alexander by the grace of God," on the obverse and "King of the Scottish" on the reverse.
