Scotland, Alexander III (1249-86), silver long cross Penny, second coinage (c.1280-86), crowned head and sceptre left, single crown punch used, within beaded inner circle, legend and outer beaded circle surrounding, +ALEXANDER DEI GRA, letter Rs have curved bottom tails, rev. long cross pattee, pierced mullet of six points in each angle, beaded circles and legend surrounding, REX SCO TOR VM+, weight 1.35g (Burns 13; S.5055A). Toned, some light surface marks, otherwise very fine.
The legend translates as "Alexander by the grace of God," on the obverse and "King of the Scottish" on the reverse.
