Scotland, Alexander III (1249-1286), silver Halfpenny, second coinage (1280-86), initial mark plain cross, inner and outer toothed borders, crowned best left with fleur tipped sceptre, reads ΛLEXΛNDER DEI GRΛ the ND ligatured, rev. long cross, two mullets of six points in angles, reads SCOTORVM REX, weight 0.68g (SCBI Scottish coins 35;287; Burns 3, fig. 194; S 5061). Lightly toned, some peripheral weakness otherwise very fine, scarce if not rare in the current market.

The legend translates as "Alexander by the grace of God," on the obverse, on the reverse "King of the Scots"
