Scotland, Alexander III (1249-86),silver Halfpenny, second coinage (c.1280-86), crowned head and sceptre left, within beaded inner circle, legend and outer beaded circle surrounding, +ΛLEXΛNDER DEI GRΛ, rev.long cross, star of six points in first quarter, pierced mullet of six points in third quarter, beaded circles and legend surrounding, + REX SCO TOR VM, weight 0.59g (SCBI 35 [Scottish coins] cf. 287-89; Burns 2 fig.193; S.5061).Toned slightly porous, otherwise nearly very fine.
The legend translates as "Alexander by the grace of God," on the obverse and "King of the Scottish" on the reverse.
