Saladin, Gold Dinar, Struck in the Year of the Siege of Jerusalem, al-Iskandariya, AH 583.

Ayyubid, al-Nasir Salah al-Din Yusuf I, Saladin, (AH 564-589 / 1169-93 AD), gold Dinar, al-Iskandariya, AH 583, two marginal inscriptions, and a central inscription in two lines, on both obverse and reverse, naming the Abbasid caliph al-Nasir, as commander of the faithful in the inner obverse marginal legend, and, on the reverse naming Saladin in the inner marginal legend as, al-'âdil, al malik, al-'âlim, salah al din, and in two lines at the centre, as Yusuf b. Ayyub, ["Joseph" son of "Job"], 3.80g, 6h (A 785.2). Very fine.

Struck in AH 583 / 1187 AD, the Year of the Siege of Jerusalem.
