Ayyubid, al-Nasir Salah al-Din Yusuf I, Saladin, (AH 564-589 / 1169-93 AD), gold Dinar, al-Qahira, AH 575, three marginal inscriptions, and a central inscription in two lines, on both obverse and reverse, naming the Abbasid caliph al-Mustadi, as commander of the faithful in the inner obverse marginal legend, and, on the reverse identifying Saladin in two lines at the centre of the reverse as Yusuf ibn Ayyub ["Joseph" son of "Job"], 4.87g, 12h (Album 785.1). Edge scrape, possibly removed from a mount in the distant past, slightly bent, nearly extremely fine.
