Richard II silver Halfpenny, later style III, London

Richard II (1377-99), silver Halfpenny, London Mint, later style with fishtail letters, facing crowned bust with rounded chest in beaded circle, legend surrounding, +RICARD'x REX xx AnGL'x F, rev. long cross pattee, trio of pellets in each inner angle, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, CIVI TAS LOn DOn, weight 0.62g (Withers type 4a; N.1332a; S.1700). Toned, struck from a slightly rusty obverse die, well centred, double struck on reverse, a bold very fine.

The Latin legends translate as "Richard, King of England and France" on the obverse, and on the reverse "The City of London."
