Ptolemaic Egypt, Ptolemy I (305-282 BC), silver Tetradrachm, with the name and portrait of Alexander the Great, mint of Alexandria, c. 306-300 BC, head of Alexander right, wearing elephant skin headdress, rev. ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ, Athena Promachos advancing right, holding spear and shield, in right field, monogram and eagle, 15.71g, 12h (Svoronos 162 and pl. VI, 2; SNG Copenhagen 28; CPE 69). Highly attractive cabinet tone, graffito X in reverse field, otherwise extremely fine.
