Kings of Macedon, Philip II (359-336 BC), posthumous gold Stater, Pella, c. 323-315 BC, laureate head of Apollo right, rev. charioteer driving biga right, Beotian shield below horses, 8.59g (cf. Le Rider, Pella Group III B, 600-607 though with rearing horses more akin to Amphipolis Groups II/III). Well-centred and of good style, rare for this group due to the rearing horses, NGC Ch XF 5/5 3/5 .
