Philip and Mary silver Groat

Philip and Mary (1554-58), silver Groat, crowned bust of Queen left, initial mark lis, legend in abbreviated Latin with pellet stops both sides, PHILIP: Z. MARIA. D: G. REX. ET. REGINA., beaded outer border both sides, rev. quartered shield of arms on long cross fourchee, initial mark lis, POSVI MVS. DE V. ADIV TO. NOS, weight 2.02g (N.1973; S.2508). Toned, with a couple of small rim nicks, almost very fine and scarce.

The Latin legends translate as on the obverse "Philip and Mary by the Grace of God, King and Queen" and on the reverse "I have made God my helper" a Psalm from the Bible.
