Philip and Mary (1554-58), silver Groat, crowned bust of Queen left, initial mark lis, legend in abbreviated Latin with pellet stops both sides, PHILIP. Z. MARIA. D. G. REX. Z. REG., beaded outer border both sides, rev. quartered shield of arms on long cross fourchée, initial mark lis, POSVI MVS. DE VM. ADI VTO. NO, weight 2.10g (N.1973; S.2508). Toned, with one light crease of discolouration, otherwise very fine for the issue.

The Latin legends translate as on the obverse "Philip and Mary by the Grace of God, King and Queen" and on the reverse "I have made God our helper" a Psalm from the Bible.
