With beautiful cobalt tone, light degradation or mis-striking of the reverse die, about extremely fine.
In his notes, BCD tells us that this type often appears to have been struck in haste or mis-struck.
Argos: a rewarding series for collectors, with field symbols recalling a wide pantheon of the Greek gods [eagle/eagle on thunderbolt for Zeus; star-topped caps for the Dioscuri; the companion owl of Athena, the facing head of Helios himself, etc.]; along with, presumably, elements of contemporary ritual and culture including jawbone, palm, and issues thought to relate to the Nemean Games, one of the panhellenic games of ancient Greece with which Argos was so closely associated.
