Oliver Cromwell (d.1658), silver Shilling, 1658, laureate and draped bust left, raised die flaw at top of forehead, legend and toothed border surrounding, OLIVAR. D.G.R.P. ANG. SCO. HIB &c PRO, rev. crowned quartered shield of arms of the Protectorate, date above, PAX QVÆRITVR BELLO, weight 6.01g (Bull 254; ESC 1005; S.3228). Toned, has been graded and slabbed by NGC as MS61.

NGC certification 5880763-007.

The abbreviated Latin legends translate as "Oliver by the Grace of God, Protector of the Republic of England, Scotland and Ireland," and on the reverse "Peace is sought by war."
