The famous Waitangi Crown was struck at the suggestion of the New Zealand Numismatic Society to commemorate the 1840 Treaty of Waitangi, New Zealand's founding document. The reverse image was designed by New Zealand artist James Berry, then adapted by Percy Metcalfe.
