Mary fine Angel of Ten Shillings, class I, mm pomegranate, annulet stops

Mary (1553-4), fine gold Angel, class I, St Michael spearing dragon right, linear circle and Latin legend surrounding with annulet stops both sides, mint mark pomegranate after Queen's name, annulet before, omARIAo?o D; G; AnG; FRA; Z: hIB; REGI'o, retrograde z, rev. quartered shield of arms on flat decked ship sailing right, M and rose above shield, Ao DnO; FACTV; EST; ISTVD? Z. EST: mIRABI' weight 4.99g (SCH 710; N.1958; S.2490). Toned, one light crease, otherwise a bold very fine and rare with a good provenance.

The Latin legends translate as on the obverse "Mary, by the grace of God, Queen of England, France and Ireland" and on the reverse "This is the Lord's doing and it is marvellous in our eyes."
