Mark Antony, silver Denarius, mobile mint, struck 32-31 BC, ANT AVG III VIR R P C, a galley right, with sceptre tied with fillet on prow, rev. LEG - XII, aquila between two standards, 3.43g, 6h (Crawford 544/26; Sydenham 1230). Good very fine.

Mark Antony enlisted and led the Twelfth Legion during his campaign in Parthia. Decades later the same legion would be led by Vespasian, as a fighting soldier before becoming emperor, in the First Jewish-Roman War.
