Horsley Down is a little used name these day for the area in Bermondsey around the southern junction with Tower Bridge in London. The name dates back to medieval times when this area would have been pasture for horses upon the water-meadows of this area. The name is only remembered today by Horsleydown New Stairs at St Saviour's Dock and Horsleydown Lane nearby.
