Crusader States, Kingdom of Jerusalem, gold Bezant, late series, c.1220-1260, in the style of the Fatimid dinars of al-'Amir al-Mansur, 3.67g, 8h (CCS-5). Really nice extremely fine.
It's presumably by chance but, on the obverse inner marginal legend, in space just above the lettering which represents the word "amir", where al-Mansur is cited as "al-amir bi ankham Allah", a tiny cross may be visible. It is similar to the leading incisions that the die cutter used at the corners of his lettering, though lighter, but appears to be in space of its own and not attached to the corners of any letters.
