James II 1688 Five-Guineas, second bust VF35

James II (1685-88), gold Five Guineas, 1688, second laureate head left, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, IACOBVS. II. DEI. GRATIA., rev. crowned cruciform shields, sceptres in angles, date either side of top crown, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, .MAG. BR. FRA. ET. HIB REX., edge inscribed in Latin raised letters, .+.DECVS. ET. TVTAMEN. ANNO. REGNI. QVARTO.+. (MCE 119; S.3397A). Very heavily surface marked, some flecking on reverse, has been graded and slabbed by PCGS as VF35, the final date of the reign.

PCGS Certification 629695.35/35612269.

The Latin legends translate as on obverse "James the Second, by the grace of God," and on the reverse "King of Great Britain, France and Ireland".
