James I (1603-25), gold Laurel of Twenty Shillings, third coinage (1619-25), fourth laureate and draped bust left, bracket style ties at rear of bust, value behind, Latin legend and beaded borders surrounding on both sides, initial mark lis (1623-24), IACOBVS D: G: MAG: BRI: FRA: ET HIB: REX, rev. long cross fourchée over crowned quartered shield of arms, terminal mark lis, FACIA M EOS IN GENTEM VNAM, no stops in legend, weight 9.00g (SCH 86; N.2114; S.2638C). Some light weakness in parts of legend with a little perforation and small rim split, otherwise with a great portrait, good very fine.

The abbreviated Latin legends translate as on the obverse "James by the Grace of God, King of Great Britain, France and Ireland" and on the reverse as "I will make them one nation," taken from the Bible.
