Ireland, Elizabeth I Shilling, 1st issue, mm rose with REGI type legend
Ireland, Elizabeth I (1558-1603), first base issue of 1558, 3 oz silver Shilling, crowned bust left, bust 1B, mint mark rose, legend surrounding, ELIZABETH: D; G; ANG; FRA; Z: HIB; REGI., rev. crowned harp, crowned E to left, crowned R to right, legend surrounding, POSVI. DEVM. ADIVTOREM: MEVM., weight 9.13g (BCW RS-2A/RS-a1; DF 240; S 6503). A little uneven in shape and usual weak strike for this base issue, some porosity on reverse, otherwise a bold fine for issue.
The abbreviated Latin legends translate as on the obverse, "Elizabeth, by the grace of God, Queen of England France and Ireland." and on the reverse as "I have made God my helper."
