Ireland, Elizabeth I (1558-1603), fine silver Groat, 1561, initial mark harp, crowned bust left, beaded circles and legend surrounding, ELIZABETH: D'.G.'A'. F'.ET. HIBERNIE. REG., rev. crowned shield of three Irish harps, date either side, beaded circles and legend surrounding, POSVI: DEVM: ADIVTOREM: MEVM, weight 1.52g (BCW HP-1B/a; DF.250; S.6506). Toned with an attractive portrait, though with some scratches and double striking evident, otherwise very fine for issue and very rare.

The abbreviated Latin legends translate as on the obverse "Elizabeth by the Grace of God, Queen of England, France and Ireland"; and on the reverse "I have made God my helper."
