Ireland, Edward IV Groat, Limerick mint, with Irish title, rosettes by neck

Ireland, Edward IV (1461-83), silver Groat, light coinage (c.1475), Limerick Mint, crowned facing bust within tressure of nine arcs, L on cusp below for Limerick, rosette cinquefoil either side of neck, beaded circles and partially visible legend surrounding with Irish title evident as last word "hyBER", rev. cross pattée, tri-pellets in each angle, two quarters with two pellets and rosette cinquefoil, beaded circles and twin concentric legend surrounding, outer legend reads *POSVI DEVm A DIVTOR E mEVm, inner legend reads, CIVI TAS* LImI RICI, rosette cinquefoil after TAS, weight 1.93g (DF p.31 note; S.6380B). Darkly toned, appears to be struck short of flan as weight standard was around 2g at this time, a nice bold strike with great portrait and clear details, very fine and very rare this well preserved, only the second we have handled from this mint.

The legend if it were fully visible would read "EDWARDVS DEI GRA DNS HYBER" meaning "Edward by the grace of God Lord of Ireland. The double reverse legend translates as "I have made God my helper," a Psalm from the Bible; and on the inner legend "Town of Limerick".
