Henry VIII Posthumous issue Penny, pellet stops, London

Henry VIII (1509-47), Posthumous issue under Edward VI (1547-50), base silver Penny, crowned facing bust of King, beaded circles and legend surrounding with pellet stops, without mint mark, H. D. G. ROSA. SINE. SPI., rev. long cross fourchee over quartered shield of arms, beaded circles and legend surrounding, CIVI TAS LON DON, weight 0.52g (N.1883; S.2417). Toned, weak in parts, one small rim split, very fine for issue, rare.

The Latin legends translate as on the obverse " Henry by the grace of God a rose without a thorn" and on the reverse "City of London".
