Henry VIII Penny issued posthumously under Edward VI, Bristol Mint

Henry VIII (1509-47), Posthumous issue under Edward VI (1547-50), base silver Penny, crowned facing bust of King, beaded circles and legend surrounding with pellet comma stops and Lombardic lettering, without mint mark, HE; 8 D; G; ROSA. SInE. SPInA., rev. long cross fourchée over quartered shield of arms, beaded circles and legend surrounding, CIVI TAS BRIS TOLE, weight 0.53g (cf.N.1856; S.2421). Toned, weak in parts mainly around centre, some die clash evident, otherwise about very fine for issue, rare with HE for Henry.

The Latin legends translate as on the obverse " Henry by the grace of God a rose without a thorn" and on the reverse "City of Bristol".
