Henry VIII (1509-47), posthumous issue under Edward VI, silver Halfgroat, York Mint, right ¾ facing crowned bust in ruff, beaded circle and Latin legend surrounding, no mint mark, Roman lettering and lozenge stops both sides, HENRIC 8 D: G: AG: FR: Z: H'. REX, rev. long cross fourchee over quartered shield of arms, beaded circles and legend surrounding, CIVI TAS EBO RACI., weight 1.23g (N.1882; S.2416). Toned, weaker strike on one half though a bold very fine overall, rare.

The Latin abbreviated legend translates as "Henry, by the grace of God, King of England France and Ireland," and on the reverse "I have made God my helper," a Psalm from the Bible.
