Henry VIII gold Halfcrown of Double Rose, Tower Mint MS62

Henry VIII (1509-47), gold Halfcrown of the Double Rose, third coinage (1544-47), Tower Mint, issued at Thirty Pence in 20 carat gold, crowned double rose, h to left and R to right for Henry Rex, beaded circle and Latin legend surrounding, initial mark pellet in annulet both sides, legend transposed with usual reverse legend, Gothic lettering with saltire stops, RVTILAnSxx ROSAxx SInExx SPInA, rev. crowned quartered shield of arms, h to left and R to right, saltire stops, hEnRIC'x 8x D'x G'x AGL'x FRxZx hIB'x REX, weight 1.49g (Schneider 638; North 1837; S.2311). Toned, some weak areas in legend, has been slabbed and graded by NGC as MS62.

NGC Certification 2119532-006.

The Latin legends translate as on the obverse "a dazzling rose without a thorn" in reference to Henry; and on the reverse "Henry 8th By the Grace of God, King of England and France".
