Henry VIII (1509-47), fine gold Angel of six shillings and eight pence, first coinage (1509-26), St Michael slaying dragon, halo breaks inner beaded circle, Latin legend and beaded border surrounding, initial mark crowned portcullis with chains (c.1513-26) both sides, hEnRIC'x VIII9x DI'x GRA'x REX'x AGL'x Zx FRxx rev. ship sailing right, quartered shield of arms at centre, h and rose either side of cross above, Latin legend and beaded borders surrounding, PERx CRVCE'x TVA'x SALVAx nOSx XPE'x RED', weight 5.01g (Schneider 562/563; N.1760; S.2265). A little weak on some high points, fully round and well centred, good very fine.

The abbreviated Latin legends translate as on the obverse "Henry VIII by the Grace of God, King of England and France"; and on the reverse "By Thy cross, save us, O Christ, our Redeemer".
