Henry VII Tentative Issue Groat

Henry VII (1485-1509), silver Groat, Tentative Issue, crowned bust in profile right, double band to crown, Latin legend and beaded borders surrounding both sides, initial mark crosslet, hEnRIC. V.I.I. DI. GRA. REX. AGL. Z. F' rev. long cross fourchee over quartered shield of arms, POSVI DEV. A DIVTOR E'. MEV' (S.2254). Toned almost extremely fine and rare.

The abbreviated Latin legends translate as on the obverse "Henry the Seventh by the Grace of God, King of England, France and Ireland"; and on the reverse "I have made God my helper," a Psalm from the Bible.
