Hadrian (A.D. 117-138), Gold Aureus . Mint of Rome, A.D. 125-8. HADRIANVS AVGVSTVS, laureate bust facing right, light drapery on left shoulder, rev. COS III, Hadrian on horseback galloping right, holding a spear, 7.41g., 6h (RIC 187; Calicó 1228; BMC 435). An exceptional example, with an impressive bust of Hadrian struck on a broad flan, residual lustre beneath toning and good extremely fine, a superb coin.
