Hadrian, AE Hemidrachm

Hadrian (A.D. 117-138), AE Hemidrachm. Mint of Alexandria, struck A.D. 132/3. AYT KAIC TPAIAN - AΔPIANOC CEB, laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Hadrian facing right, rev. L - IZ, lighthouse of Pharos, with standing figure (Poseidon?) atop circular lantern and two trumpeting tritons either side, 14.29g., 12h (BMC 885; Dattari 1935; RPC 5853). An exceptional example, well centered and with a beautiful red/brown patina, extremely fine, very rare and a wonderful representation of this architectural wonder of the ancient world.
