Germany, Brunswick and Luneburg, George III (1760-1820), silver 2/3-Thaler, 1779, Clausthal Mint, laureate head right, I.W.S. initials at bottom for Mint Master Johann Wilhelm Schlemm (1753-90), legend surrounding, GEORG. III. D. G. M. BRIT. FR. &. HIB. REX. F. D. rev. inverted die axis, crowned quartered shield of arms, value in circlet at bottom, small inner legend curving around lower half, N. D. REICHS. F. FIEN. SILBER. date either side of top crown, legend surrounding, BRUNS. &. LUN. DUX. S. R. I. A. TH. &. ELECT., edge grained, 13.12g (Clausthal Welter 2808; KM 365). Toned, good very fine.
