George VI (1936-52), gold Proof Set of four coins, 1937, Coronation year, gold Five Pounds, Two Pounds, Sovereign and Half-Sovereign, all with bare head of King left, HP raised below for designer Humphrey Paget, legend and outer border surrounding, GEORGIVS VI D: G: BR: OMN: REX F: D: IND: IMP:, rev. St George and dragon right, date in exergue, B.P. to upper right of exergue, all with plain edges (S.PS15). All coins lightly toned over proof brilliance with some hairlines, all have been slabbed and graded by NGC as Five Pounds PF62 Cameo, Two Pounds PF63, Sovereign PF62 Cameo, Half Sovereign PF64, a pleasing straight graded set, with original case.

These plain edge Proof coins were produced to celebrate the Coronation of King George VI on the 12thMay 1937, with a mintage of 5,501 pieces, they were technically patterns as they did not have milled edges.
