George V (1910-36), gold Half-Sovereign, 1926-SA, Pretoria mint, South Africa, bare head left, B.M. on truncation, GEORGIVS V D.G. BRITT: OMN: REX F.D. IND: IMP:, rev. St. George slaying dragon with sword, WWP under lance, mint letters SA on ground-line, date in exergue, B.P. to upper right of exergue (Hill 543; Bull EGC 1932; S.4010). An attractive example, slabbed and graded by NGC as MS64, there being as of April 2025 only 10x examples finer-graded at NGC.

1926 SA Calendar Year Mintage 806,540. This year of the currency Half-Sovereign is the very last pre-decimal period currency issue until the decimal bullion Half-Sovereign of 1982 in the reign of Queen Elizabeth II.

The Latin legend translates as "George the Fifth by the Grace of God, King of the Britons, Defender of the Faith, Emperor of India".
