George V (1911-1936), gold Sovereign, 1922 S, Sydney Mint, Australia, bare head left, B.M. on truncation for engraver Bertram Mackennal, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, GEORGIVS V D.G. BRITT: OMN: REX F. D. IND: IMP:, rev. St. George and the Dragon right, date in exergue, B.P. to upper right of exergue for designer Benedetto Pistrucci, mintmark 'S' on ground line, edge milled (Bentley 738; McD 270; cf.QM 202; Marsh 282 R3; Fr 38; S.4003). An excellent example of a key date in the Sovereign series, retains full mint lustre with strong eye appeal, graded by NGC as MS63.

The Latin legend translates as "George the Fifth by the Grace of God, King of the Britons, Defender of the Faith, Emperor of India".
