George V 1916 Sovereign London Mint, low mintage World War I.

George V (1910-36),gold Sovereign, 1916, bare head left, B.M. on truncation, GEORGIVS V D.G. BRITT: OMN: REX F.D. IND: IMP: rev.St George slaying dragon with sword, WWP under lance, plain ground-line, date in exergue, B.P. to upper right of exergue, weight 8.01g (Bentley 362; Marsh 218; S.3996). Toned, extremely fine and a scarce date with low mintage for the London Mint in World War I.

Calendar year mintage 1,554,120.

The Latin legends translates on obverse as "George the Fifth by the Grace of God, King of all the Britains, Defender of the Faith, Emperor of India."
