George IV (1820-30), bronzed copper Proof Penny, 1826, laureate head left, date below, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, GEORGIUS IV DEI GRATIA rev. Britannia seated right with trident and shield, raised line on arms on saltire, emblems in exergue, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, BRITANNIAR: REX FID: DEF: weight 18.97g (Peck 1428 reverse C; S.3823). Toned, hairline marks in the toning otherwise practically as struck, and rare.
The Latin legends translate as on obverse "George IV, by the grace of God," and on the reverse "King of the Britons, Defender of the Faith."
