George IV (1820-1830), gold proof Half Sovereign, 1826, bear head left with extra tuft of hair, date below, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, GEORGIUS IV DEI GRATIA, rev. crowned quartered shield of arms in frame, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, BRITANNIARUM REX FID: DEF:, edge milled, weight 4.00g (WR 249; Bull EGC 997; Hill 407A S; S.3804A). Toned with some light marks, practically as struck, graded by NGC as PF62 Ultra Cameo, rare.

Official mintage of 400 pieces.

The Latin legend on the obverse translates as "George the Fourth by the Grace of God", and continuing on the reverse as "King of the Britains, Defender of the Faith".

Ex Spink and Son Ltd. early 1980s purchase with old stock ticket with numerical details and description in hand of May Sinclair.
